I didn't do a right now post for August ( I was too busy) but here it is for September.

Right now, we're sprucing up our lounge. I just recently spotted Marti and Jarrod's lounge and it wholly inspired me. To see the rest of their house go here. P.S: the title of this post may imply that I know these people ( hence I used their first names) but I don't know them from Adam. Useless info but anyway, moving right along;

Stella McCartney creeper heels

Now these bad boys are super hot. Most of my friends differ but I like them a lot. I'm 5'9 and I tend to steer away from heels simply because I cannot walk in them and I transform into a giant but these creeper heels by Stella McCartney for Fall 2013 are worth towering over the human species.

Something for the kids! Popupshop is known for using organic fabrics. In this collection, they were inspired by nature, making use of polar bear, astronaut, moon, forest and wolf prints. It's simple and easy which is ideal for children.

Iced coffee

Picture
I'm a coffee addict. Yes, I really am and with Summer on the way, despite the dreaded heat, I will still need my fix. I was happy when I spotted this simple iced coffee recipe on pinterest, I'm trying it and I hope you will too. Check it out here.

INXS

Lastly, I found my old INXS album about two weeks ago. Whilst rummaging through my music, this one appeared. Ever since then, they've been on repeat (it's 80's personified which I love). Listen to one of my fave tracks here

Mona F/W 2013

What an absolute pleasure to present, Glowing in the Dark,  Mona's latest F/W collection. Whenever I receive an e-mail from owner and designer, Moriah Hemed, I get all giddy. I would honestly wear every piece, it's feminine, elegant yet playful. Moriah says;

"In this collection I was inspired by the combination of creepy and cute. I looked for the meeting point of Tim Burtons’ corpse bride, Beetle juice and Sweeney todd with Mona’s cute collars and feminine silhouettes.I wanted to create a horror fantasy fairy tale sort of scene and to take the Mona customer on a new adventure with an edgier look and feel."

Dorothea Lange

9/18/2013

Comments

A few weeks ago I discovered the work of Dorothea Lange. Her images of farm workers in the U.S during the 1930's really caught my attention and I obviously wanted to share this with you.  Here's just a little about this talented lass;

Dorothea Lange was an American photographer ( 6 May 1895- 11 October 1965). Her work became known during the era of the Great Depression. She started her career in San Francisco during the 1920's capturing commercial portraits. In 1935, however, she started working for the Farm Security Administration documenting the struggled exodus of farm families that had to migrate to the West and look for work. Due to Dorothea's style, the development of documentary photography was born.

Jonathan Simkhai Spring 2014

9/8/2013

Comments

Jonathan Simkhai was inspired by the battle at Brighton Beach which took place in 1964. Mr Simkhai said:

"I was imagining beach chairs strewn around, which is where the intersecting lines came from". The result was stripes in all different widths, at all different angles, creating a new sort of patchwork on sheath dresses and sweatshirt-skirt sets...."

So so dreamy

Nadinoo is a British label owned by fashion designer, Nadia Izruna. Her latest collection, Play By Numbers will soon be released, so keep your eyes peeled.

"Nadinoo is a cute, pretty and playful label for the modern lady who still treasures styling and stories of the past. Soft detailing and feminine designs, with timeless silhouettes are clear from her collections. With inspiration taken from the early to mid 1900’s, Nadia enjoys dipping in and out of iconic eras and picking her favourite details which she re-works into silhouettes for the season."

Breakfast at Tiffany's

9/1/2013

Comments

I've watched Breakfast at Tiffany's countless times and I'm pretty sure you've noticed my deep love for this classic and Ms Hepburn ( hence the design of le blog). Anyway, Truman Capote ( for those of you who don't know, he wrote Breakfast at Tiffany's) wanted Marilyn Monroe to play the part of Holly Golightly and Audrey wasn't his most favoured choice (shock, horror?!? for realz!). Most of the costumes were designed by Givenchy and the others by Edith Head. The scene in which she wears a white asymmetrical gown was surprisingly a bed sheet but a scene was cut from the film where Holly was taking a bath and had to improvise by creating a 'gown'. Thanks to Givenchy, every time I watch this masterpiece I marvel at Ms Golightly's impeccable style and character. As Pamela Keogh Clarke wrote in her book, Audrey Style: "...the Hepburn Givenchy partnership reached the apogee of refined elegance as Holly Golightly’s hangover chic caused a run on triple strand faux pearl necklaces, sleeveless dresses and oversized dark sunglasses that continues to this day.” If you have/ haven't seen this gem, it's one of those movies you can watch over and over and over again.
