Kylie is just so incredibly beautiful and well groomed. Somehow she manages to juggle the craziness of family life yet she's able to look exceedingly radiant. Ever since I started reading her blog, it's clear that she is a devoted mother who has a knack for consistently maintaining her elegance and femininity. Her blog is undeniably inspirational and if I ever have the privilege of becoming a mother, I'd want to be just like Mrs Lawson. I thought we could get to know her a little bit better, so I was beyond elated to this Q&A with her .
I am a fashion and lifestyle blogger, the blog is based more around my 'personal style' and is mainly original photography. I worked in digital marketing until I became pregnant with my beautiful little daughter Eva-Rae (now 2 1/2). I decided I wanted to stay at home with her until she was 3 years old. The only problem was, I have a very busy mind and I love being creative so I became bored very easily. Being a mother at home fulfills me, but it doesn't keep my overactive imagination occupied.
I knew I wanted an online presence and something I could show future employers (like a portfolio) while off work, so I decided I wanted to set up a blog. February 2011 Memoir Mode was born. It has always been quite a serious project for me, but something I find very enjoyable.
Who inspires you?
Lots of things inspire me, movies, different eras. I love old photography and my most treasured possession is the album of professional photos of my family from the 40s that my grandmother has given to me. Nature inspires me, I love flowers and wildlife. I think this was because of my beloved late grandfather. While driving he would suddenly pull over and state "just look at this wonderful landscape/scenery". Most of my wardrobe is floral print (even winter clothing) and my blog design is floral, so nature inspires me in a big way. My style always seems to cross between vintage inspired and bohemian inspired.
What are your Summer staples?
Without a doubt a maxi skirt or dress, I have worn them for years. Thankfully they have never really gone out of style, the one thing that does change is the waist. Low on the hips or nipped in at the waist. Also hides a multitude of sins (hairy legs). My chambray shirt has been a staple item for me this season so far. I use it as a light cover up as you can never be certain of the weather in the UK. Also it looks quite nice tied up at the waist and goes with everything, literally.
Where is your dream destination/s?
I want to visit South America. Trek and photograph the Amazon Forrest. Visit Peru, I would love to see Machu Picchu.
If you could invite 5 famous people to dinner, who would you ask and why?
Grace Coddington because she has job of my wildest dreams. Mario Testino because I studied him in photography and would love to hear his stories and get some photography tips. Mariah Carey because she is my favorite singer, is slightly cuckoo and likes her wine, so we should get on well. Sarah Jessica Parker as she will turn up in something fabulous and Gerard Butler just because!
What are you reading at the moment?
I can't remember the last time I picked a book, I think it was about web copy writing (riveting stuff). I don't subscribe to any magazines and just pick one up if I have a long journey or a long waiting time for something. Usually I will go with the most interesting cover. I read lots and lots of blogs.
List 5 items every woman should have in her wardrobe?
A black blazer, the perfect white shirt, a maxi skirt, pretty floral tea dress (probably vintage) and a pair of wedges.
Do you have any advice for our readers?
